Ever wanted to see where the art actually happens? On Saturday and Sunday, July 25 and 26, you can. The Garrett County Arts Council is hosting its 2026 Artist Studio Tour, a free, self-guided run through working studios across the county from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

This is the kind of event that is easy to fold into a weekend on the mountain. The tour sits at the Grantsville and Oakland end of the corridor, just down the road from Confluence and an easy add-on if you are already headed toward Deep Creek. Follow the yellow signs and you will find the studios along the way.

What makes a studio tour different from a gallery show? You get to step inside the space where the work is made, meet the artist, and see the tools, the half-finished pieces, and the process behind the finished art. It is a rare look behind the curtain, and it is a nice reminder of how much creative talent lives right here in our part of the highlands.

The tour is free and open to everyone. Bring the family, plan a loop, and take your time. For the full list of participating studios and the route map, check with the Garrett County Arts Council.
