History Comes Alive: Somerset Historical Center’s Author Talks!
The Somerset Historical Center's author-talk series continues, with Amanda Owen presenting a story of women's fight for the vote on Sept. 22.
The Somerset Historical Center has quietly built one of the better local speaker series going, and history buffs on the mountain should have it on their radar. Recent talks have dug into regional Revolutionary War history, including a July 15 presentation by author Kevin Mearkle on the Revolutionary War generation of neighboring Bedford County.
The one to circle next is coming this fall. On Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., author Amanda Owen will present “Finding Justice: The Untold Story of Women’s Fight for the Vote.” It is a timely subject and a chance to hear a researched story told well, close to home.
What makes these evenings worth the drive is that they are local history taken seriously, presented by people who have done the digging. If you have ever wondered about the deeper roots of this region, or you just enjoy a good talk with knowledgeable neighbors, this series delivers. Talks are held at the Center at 10649 Somerset Pike, just north of Somerset.
Check the Center’s event calendar for the full lineup and any registration details.
