Elliott Beggs was the son of T.G. Beggs (1851-1930), a Beggs brother who helped establish ‘Beggs Brothers and Co.’ printing company in 1901. He later ran the company exclusively from 1955 to 1965. The company still exists—even making Facebook posts of their work output today.
Lawrence Kurtz was a ‘Son’ in the ‘H. Kurtz & Son’s’ Department Store located at Hughart and Ross Streets. His father was the man who started the business in 1888, Harvey W. Kurtz (February 26, 1865-October 24, 1947). The faded painted sign can still be seen on the Ross Street side of the building—thankfully. (They should touch it up a little.
