Larry Walsh was my colleague and friend, and above all else, he believed in the good that’s in every person. I’ve tried hard to copy that.
Larry loved the Laurel Highlands and he found the house in Confluence my wife and I bought a year and a half ago. Since then, the embrace of the mountains and rivers has only drawn us closer to the town and the people who live here.
I never wanted to be anything else in life but a newspaper reporter, which I’ve been since 1980. Newspaper work is a calling and it’s a privilege to bring that calling to enhancing Larry’s News & Views legacy.
What you can expect from News & Views are announcements of every single local school and community event we can find. You can also expect thorough and balanced stories about important issues affecting all of us living in Somerset County - hunger, crime, economic development and much more.
Most importantly, News & Views will uphold the goodness in every Confluence resident, turning a light on every spaghetti dinner benefit for someone who lost everything in a fire or fundraiser for the guy out of work because of an accident.
Larry would want that. We’re committed to it.
