THOMAS ROSS BROWN (June 10, 1857-December 3, 1941) is pictured with his beloved daughter Frances “Fannie” Etta Brown Treutle (November 15, 1885-1957). T.R. Brown was the original owner of the house in West Confluence that is now the popular ‘River’s Edge Cafe.’ 

  Brown was the relay man running in the rain who delivered a message from Presidential candidate William McKinley to be wired to his brother Abner McKinley in Somerset. McKinley’s train was delayed one mile West of Confluence due to an earthen slide.
