Douglas D Clevenger (1942 – 2026)

On May 8th, 2026, Douglas D. Clevenger, 83, of Markleton, passed away at his home to be in the arms of his Savior. Doug was born August 10, 1942 in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, a son of Lawrence and Marie (Tressler) Clevenger. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Phyllis, Frances and Arlene and brothers, Albert “Sonny” and Paul. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Karen (Pletcher), daughter, Lisa (Clevenger) Schartiger and partner, Judy, Pittsburgh and a son Lynn and wife, Margaret, Mississippi; grandchildren, Cassie Schartiger and fiancé, Shawn, Danielle (Schartiger) Kurpiewski, both of Pittsburgh, Justin Clevenger, Mississippi and Noah Clevenger, Georgia; great grandchildren, Shawn, Cole, Mason, Gaige and Pella and a great great grandchild, Easton; also, numerous nieces and nephews. Doug worked for W.P. Dickerson as a bridge builder for 4 years and at Bethlehem Steel as a welder for 12 years. He found peace and joy in the outdoors, whether he was casting a line on the water or spending time hunting in the woods with his dogs that he loved so much. He appreciated the simple moments life had to offer. Fishing and hunting were more than hobbies to him. They were traditions, memories and a way of life he proudly shared with family and friends. He also loved to ride his scooter and talk to everyone, even strangers. Doug loved his family and friends. He was a steady presence, a source of wisdom, knowledge, humor, a story teller and gave unconditional love. His home and heart were always open and memories he created with those he loved will be treasured forever. He was a member of the Old Bethel Church, Markleton. Friends will be received from 3-8 PM Tuesday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence. A funeral service will be held at 12 PM Wednesday in the Old Bethel Church with Pastor Duane Riddle officiating. Interment will follow in Kingwood IOOF Cemetery. There will be viewing at the church one hour prior to the service.
