News & Views is a jazzed up version of a newsletter that longtime journalist Larry Walsh put together for years for people who live in Confluence. That’s not going to change, but some other things are in the works that readers will notice.
First, some background.
News & Views is a bootstrap effort without advertising revenue or corporate funding, founded with the ideal of bridging the news desert in Confluence and Somerset County. We believe in the essential goodness of all human beings and that the absence of a trustworthy news outlet, the reliance on rumor, innuendo and half-truths instead of facts only feeds the divisions in our world.
Above all else, News & Views is independent; our only commitment is to accuracy, balance and fairness. If we make a mistake, our promise is to correct it immediately.
But here’s where things change.
We want News & Views to be your go-to news source and you matter. For that reason, we’re introducing an opinion page where we will publish your views and letters to the editor.
To be considered for publication, letters and opinion pieces should be no longer than 700 words and emailed to editor@newsandviews.info
Unsigned letters or opinion pieces will not be considered. Submissions should include your name, address and telephone number where you can be reached for verification.
Opinion is not news, so you never see opinion masquerading as news on our platform; look for the distinction to be clearly marked.
We’ve enjoyed remarkable growth since our debut in March, thanks to your support. We look forward to continuing that growth with the addition of outside voices – yours.
