Confluence Volunteer Fire Company Holds Chicken BBQ Benefit for Ron Hostetler’s Family Saturday
The Confluence Volunteer Fire Company holds a Chicken BBQ Benefit Saturday at the Outflow Soft Freeze, with proceeds going to help Ron Hostetler's family with funeral expenses.
The Confluence Volunteer Fire Company is holding a Chicken BBQ Benefit this Saturday, September 12, from noon until sold out at the Outflow Soft Freeze, with every plate going to help Colleen and the rest of Ron Hostetler’s family cover funeral expenses.
A plate is $15: a chicken leg quarter, potato salad, baked beans, and a roll and butter. Tom Weir will play live acoustic music through the afternoon. Bring a lawn chair if you’re planning to stay and visit a while, and it’s BYOB for anyone who wants to make an afternoon of it.
Ron Hostetler gave the fire company years of his time, most recently as assistant chief, and he was the one who made PumpkinFest feel like PumpkinFest every October. News & Views reported his death in a hit-and-run crash on September 2. This is the fire company doing what it has always done for its own: showing up, firing up the grill, and asking the rest of Confluence to show up too.
Randy Conn, Rick Conn and Michele Howard are hosting Saturday’s benefit. The fire company knows its way around a grill, chicken barbeques are practically a civic institution here, and this one will draw a crowd for a better reason than a good plate of chicken.
The Outflow Soft Freeze is at 1523 Mae West Road. Get there early. Sold out means sold out.
