Confluence Creative Arts Center is featuring two Pittsburgh-based singer/songwriters, Deborah Brooks and Brian Junker, this Saturday, May 30 for an evening potluck and concert and morning singing class for all those who ever dreamed of singing.
Deborah is a singer/songwriter and guitarist whose clear, sweet voice and graceful stage presence make her a joy to watch and hear. With roots in bluegrass, swing, and alt-folk, she brings an intuitive musicality to every performance.
Brian plays fingerstyle acoustic guitar, old-time Appalachian banjo and some mandolin to bring his music to life with a gentle tenor voice. He writes and sings vignettes that bring new perspectives to the lives of ordinary people.
Brian writes and plays his own music and also covers many great, but often not well-known singer/songwriters. He also plays in old-time jams, choirs, and anyplace else where community gathers around music.
Come for the potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. and stay for the show at 7 p.m.
In addition to the evening concert, Deborah will offer a singing workshop from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the arts center. This class is for folks 16 years and older, and it will focus on helping singers of all levels learn easy techniques to support their voices and make singing more fun and enjoyable. $15 fee. Pre-register with the arts center or just show up!
