A Confluence Treasure Since the 1980s
There are a handful of places in this valley that feel genuinely irreplaceable — spots that have been around long enough to become part of what this place is. River’s Edge Cafe is one of them. It has been welcoming guests since the 1980s, and when it opens each spring, it feels like the season has officially begun.
The cafe opens for the 2026 season on the last Friday of April, running Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with dinner beginning at 5 p.m. That schedule holds through Memorial Day.
If you haven’t been, here’s what you’re missing: a veranda that looks right out over the river, where you can sit and watch the fly fishermen work the current, kayakers drift past, and cyclists roll through on the Great Allegheny Passage. Inside, the building itself is worth the trip — an 1890 two-story clapboard German-style home, filled with period antiques that give every room the feel of another era entirely.
It is exactly the kind of place that makes Confluence the kind of town people come back to. We are lucky to have it. We are lucky they keep opening those doors every spring.
Welcome back, River’s Edge.
