The Turkeyfoot Lending Library is launching SummerQuest 2026, a free summer reading program for children and families, on Wednesday, June 17. Sessions run from 10 a.m. to noon each Wednesday through July 8.

This year’s theme is “Unearth a Story.” Each week brings stories and hands-on activities, and kids earn a brag tag for every week they attend.

Reading logs are flexible. Pre-school through elementary readers color in a book for each one they finish. Older elementary kids, teens and adults can play Book BINGO or set their own summer goals and track their progress. Completed logs go into a raffle for a grand prize in each age group: a prize from MindWare worth up to $50 for the younger crowd, and a Kindle Fire tablet for teens and adults.

Free lunches are provided for anyone 18 and under through the Summer Youth Café.

The library asks that you register so it knows how many to expect, and to select Turkeyfoot Lending Library as your location. Sign up at cutt.ly/SCLSummerQuest2026 or call the Somerset County Library at 814-445-5907.

It adds up to a good deal: stories, activities, prizes and lunch, all free. Bring the kids and let them dig in.
