Summer has finally arrived, and it did not bother easing in. The Fourth of July is shaping up to be a hot one, maybe one for the record books, and the season of bikes and tourists has Confluence humming with energy again.
In case you missed the memo, here is the thing to know before the holiday. There will be no official fireworks in Confluence on the Fourth of July this year.
The town is saving its celebration for Saturday, July 25, when Confluence will mark the 250th anniversary of the United States. America turns 250 this year, and Confluence is holding its party a few weeks after the calendar holiday.
That does not mean the Fourth is canceled. Enjoy the long weekend, enjoy the visitors, and have your fun safely. The heat is no joke this year, so drink your water, find some shade, and look out for the people and pets who do not do well in it.
And spare a thought for the animals. This time of year is hard on them. Backyard fireworks send dogs under beds and set every farm animal on edge. If you are setting any off, remember the neighbors with four-legged family. Better yet, hold the noise for the 25th, and let everybody, two legs and four, get some peace.
