If you have been to a farmers market anywhere between Somerset and Pittsburgh in the last two decades, there is a good chance you have met Sara and Todd Wetzel. And if you have, you know exactly what we are talking about.

The Wetzels are opening their greenhouse to the public May 20-23, located off Route 281 between Confluence and Somerset. They grow a wide variety of vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings – the kind of selection that makes you want to expand your garden just to have an excuse to buy more. They also raise Coopworth sheep for lamb and fiber, which is its own kind of wonderful.

Sara and Todd have been at this since 2002, selling at farmers markets and building real friendships with the people who love to cook and eat well. There is something about people who grow food for a living – they tend to be generous with their knowledge, their time, and their conversation. The Wetzels are very much that kind of people.

The greenhouse will be open several days per week going forward, including a Memorial Day sale. Closed Sundays. Check their Google Maps business profile for current hours and updates.

This lil corner of the Laurel Highlands is lucky to have them. Stop in, say hello, and come home with something grown with love.
