What a week it was, and not an easy one.
Confluence lost two of its own — two civic-minded, lifelong locals who gave more to this community than most people know. We wrote about both of them this week, and we hope you'll take a moment to read.
Saturday brought something this town hasn't seen in a long time — the biggest assembly of fire trucks anyone can remember, rolling through in honor of Tom Close Jr., past Chief of the Confluence Volunteer Fire Company. It was a tribute worthy of the man. We tip our hat to you, Chief. You earned every one of those trucks.
And Oden Street won't be quite the same without Virginia "Ginny" Halverson. That porch is going to seem awfully empty. Ginny was the kind of neighbor you don't replace — you just feel the space she left. If you get a chance, stop by and give Lee and the family your best. It would mean a lot.
