Jason Scott Sargent, Jr. (2004 – 2026)
May 7, 2004 – July 19, 2026
With hearts shattered beyond words, we announce that our beloved son, Jason Scott Sargent Jr., entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 19, 2026, following a tragic automobile accident. He was 22 years old. Jason was deeply loved by his parents, Rachel and Jason Sargent; his sister, Rianna Pearson; his grandparents, Russell and Sherry Rhome; his aunt, Renee Rhome; and his cousin, Tanner Harvey, along with countless family members, friends, coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. Jason proudly wore a cross around his neck to show the world that he was a child of the King. He lived with kindness, humility, and a quiet strength that reflected his unwavering faith. He was a faithful attendee of Old Bethel Church, where his love for the Lord continued to grow and where he found encouragement through his church family. A 2022 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School, Jason went on to attend Penn State University, where he graduated among the top students in his class with a major in Geobiology and a minor in Biology. He was fascinated by God’s creation and found joy in studying the world around him. Dinosaurs, rocks, fossils, and the wonders of the earth captivated his imagination from an early age. His passion for geology and paleontology took him across the United States, where he participated in fossil excavations and geology fieldwork, eagerly exploring and studying the incredible world God created. In a thought that could not have been more fitting for Jay, his brother-in-law, Brandon Pearson, said, “Jesus needed help identifying a dinosaur and said, ‘I know the right person to ask,’ so He took Jason home right then.” To anyone who knew Jason and his lifelong fascination with dinosaurs, those words bring a much-needed smile through the tears. Jason also had a passion for roller coasters and loved learning about the science and engineering behind them. One of his favorite traditions was taking an annual roller coaster vacation with his cousin, Tanner, creating memories that will forever be treasured. He loved great food and was the family’s grill master and chef, always eager to prepare a meal for those he loved. Jason was proud to be working in the field he had studied, recently beginning his career with Mostardi Platt. He was also employed as a landscaper with Baker Services, where he worked alongside his stepfather, Rex Baker. Jason had a strong work ethic and took great pride in everything he did. He was living the dream he had worked so hard to achieve, grateful that God had opened the door for him to begin a career doing what he loved. Above all, Jason will be remembered for his gentle spirit, compassionate heart, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met. He had a way of making people feel valued, welcomed, and loved simply by being himself. Although his life was far too short, Jason embraced it fully. He traveled to many places, experienced so much of the beauty this earthly world had to offer, and filled his years with curiosity, adventure, laughter, and love. To his family, Jason was so much more than his accomplishments. He was a devoted son, a loving brother, and a faithful friend. To his mother, he was her best friend, often giving her the very best advice. He gave the warmest hugs, and his sweet blue eyes reflected the tremendous love he carried for those closest to him. That love will remain with us forever. We are broken beyond measure and deeply saddened to lose him. Yet, we take comfort in knowing that Jason’s faith has become sight and that he is now in the presence of the Savior he loved so dearly. We look forward to the glorious day when we will see him again. Though his years on earth were few, Jason lived a life of faith, curiosity, integrity, adventure, and love that will continue to inspire everyone who knew him. Friends will be received from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence and from 11 AM to 1 PM Thursday at the Old Bethel Church. A funeral service will follow the viewing at 1 PM with Pastor Duane Riddle officiating. Interment to follow in Old Bethel Cemetery. Arrangements by Humbert Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
