July 6, 1949 – June 11, 2026

Linda Gail Marietta McCarty, 76, passed peacefully at home on June 11, 2026, overlooking the Ohiopyle Falls. She was surrounded by her loving family. You could smell the Youghiogheny River in the air, one of the things she cherished. She courageously battled pancreatic cancer to the very end hoping to provide research for a cure. Linda was born on July 6, 1949 and raised in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Robert H. and Shirley P. (Sproul) Marietta. Ohiopyle was in her heart. It was where she met her husband of 52 years, Mark McCarty. It is where they raised their family and started their white water rafting business, Laurel Highlands River Tours. Linda also devoted countless hours of community service by serving on the Ohiopyle Borough council for over 30 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Marietta, and her son-in-law, Joseph Hatcher. She is survived by her loving husband, Mark. And her children: Stacey McCarty, Jamie Hatcher, Elizabeth (Matthew) Bryington, and Patrick (Alexia) McCarty. She was the best Nanny to her grandchildren: MacKenzie Hatcher (Emily Shanblatt), Hunter McCarty-Cameron, River (Ray) Hanabeck, Emori McCarty-Cameron, Isabella Hatcher, Zelia Hatcher, Mallori McCarty-Cameron, Lucie Hatcher, Evelyn Bryington, Daniel Bryington, Wylder McCarty, and Woodson McCarty. And also to her great grandchildren Rain Hanabeck, Ren Hanabeck, and Hayden Alexander. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who knew her. Friends and family will be received at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A private burial service will be held the following day for the family. A luncheon to honor her memory will follow at the Ohiopyle Stewart Community Center on June 19, 2026 from 1-3pm.
