Ben Burnworth (1910-1977) is pictured extracting maple syrup from a tree circa 1953 on the family farm he was born and grew up on downhill behind Johnson Chapel. At this time, he was living in his 1947-built stone house on the Mae West Road just on the descent of Johnson Chapel Hill going downhill to Confluence. This photo was taken by a staff photographer of a Uniontown newspaper for an article on maple syrup production. At the top of the hill is where the Mae West Road ran atop Johnson Chapel Hill.
